SMALLRIG 2918 Camera Cage
The SmallRig 2918 is a lightweight aluminum cage designed for the Sony Alpha 7 III, Alpha 7R III, and Alpha 9 cameras, providing access to the camera’s controls and additional mounting options for accessories. The frame is secured with a 1/4"-20 screw and an additional M2.5 screw, which prevents the camera body from rotating inside the cage. Users have access to numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads, ARRI-standard mounts, and a cold shoe socket, allowing for the expansion of a photography or film setup. Weighing approximately 167.2 g, the cage does not significantly add weight to the camera, even when used with additional accessories.
Stable Camera Mounting
The SmallRig 2918 is designed to fit the bodies of compatible Sony cameras while maintaining convenient access to their buttons and basic functions. The main 1/4"-20 screw secures the camera body to the cage, while an additional M2.5 screw utilizes the strap hole to prevent the camera from rotating unintentionally. The two-point mounting system helps keep the camera stable even when using additional grips or other accessories.
Multiple options for mounting accessories
The cage features 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes, ARRI mounts, and a cold shoe, allowing you to tailor the equipment configuration to the needs of the photographer or cinematographer. The ARRI mounts located on the top and side of the frame use locking pins that help prevent compatible accessories from rotating once mounted. The cage can be expanded with, among other accessories, the SmallRig 1984 top handle, the HSN2093C wooden side handle, the ARRI 2165C handle, or the Magic Arm 2115.
Aluminum Construction and Built-in Screwdriver
The SmallRig 2918 is made of aluminum alloy, which keeps it lightweight while maintaining a rigid structure suitable for everyday use. Its compact dimensions of 143.5 × 106 × 58.5 mm ensure a snug fit around the body of a compatible camera without making it bulky. The bottom of the cage also features a built-in screwdriver, allowing you to tighten the mounting screws without needing additional tools.
