SMALLRIG OSMO Action 6 Cage
The SMALLRIG 5888 cage is designed specifically for the DJI Osmo Action 6 and provides full metal protection without restricting access to buttons, ports, or the battery compartment. The aluminum alloy construction weighs approximately 56 g, so it does not significantly increase the weight of the setup while helping to protect the camera from impacts. The cage features a cold shoe mount, two quick-release mounts, and three 1/4"-20 mounting holes, making it easy to attach additional accessories and set up the camera for recording in various configurations.
Space for Additional Accessories
The built-in cold shoe mount allows you to attach a compatible microphone, a small light, or other accessories used during recording. Three 1/4"-20 threads further expand the setup’s versatility, making it easier to adapt the camera to a specific filming style. This solution works well both for handheld shooting and when the camera is used as part of a larger setup with additional mounts.
Quickly Change the Camera’s Orientation
The mount is equipped with side-mounted magnetic quick-release mounts compatible with the DJI Osmo Action 6’s bidirectional quick-release system. The open base provides access to the camera’s factory-installed magnetic connector, which—when used with compatible adapters—allows for smoother switching between horizontal and vertical recording. The detachable mount can be removed using an Allen wrench, while still allowing direct use of the camera’s magnetic mounting system.
Convenient battery replacement and additional protection
The cage’s side-opening design allows you to access the battery compartment without having to remove the entire cover from the camera. This makes battery replacement faster and eliminates the need to reattach the cage after each battery change. An additional opening for a wrist strap allows you to attach a safety strap, which can reduce the risk of accidentally dropping the camera while filming handheld or on the move.
Important compatibility information
The cage’s magnetic interface is compatible only with the DJI Osmo bidirectional quick-release system used on the Osmo Action 6 and is not compatible with the older Osmo Action Quick Release Adapter Mount, used on the Osmo Action 5 Pro, among others.
